ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The second-ranked UNLV golf team shot a final-round 297 to tie for third place at the 20-team William H. Tucker Intercollegiate played at the par-72, 7,253-yard UNM Championship Golf Course Saturday.
Brigham Young (283-283-290-856) won the team title at 8-under-par 856, while Southern California (288-284-294-866) finished second, 10 shots back. UNLV (291-287-297-875) and New Mexico (285-295-295-875) tied for third, 19 shots back. Oklahoma (289-293-298-880) rounded out the top five.
Individually, Colorado State's Nigel Spence (70-68-70-208) shot a final-round 70 to capture medallist honors at 8-under. UNLV's Jeremy Anderson (69-67-74-210) finished second at 6-under and San Diego State's Scott Piercy (70-69-74-213) finished third at 3-under.
Other Rebels competing were Michael Kirk (72-70-73-215/T5th), Adam Scott (74-75-74-223/ T38th), Brien Davis (76-75-76-227/T58th), Scott Lander (77-76-78-231/T80th) and Tyler Mays (playing as an individual 75-77-79-231/T80th).
UNLV's next action will be Oct. 17-19, at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate in Birmingham, Ala.
