Women's Basketball Falls To Liberty, 75-71

NASSAU, The Bahamas - Elena Kisseleva made two free throws with 3.3 seconds left to give Liberty a 75-71 win over the UNLV women's basketball team in the second game of the Nassau Sun Splash Shootout played at Kendal G.L. Isaacs National Gymnasium Monday.

UNLV cut the Lady Flames' lead to 73-71 with a Linda Fr?hlich three-pointer with 18 seconds remaining, but could get no closer.

With the game tied at 52-52 with 11:41 left, Liberty went on a 13-6 run to take control of the game.

Liberty opened up the second half with a 13-4 run over four minutes to take a five-point advantage.

UNLV broke a 15-15 tie with 10:24 remaining in the first half with an 8-0 run over 1:51 - all with free throws - and led the rest of the first half to take a 35-31 halftime lead.

Liberty (5-4) was led by Sharon Wilkerson's 19 points. Kisseleva added 17 points and led the team in rebounds with eight. Sarah Farley was the only other Lady Flame in double-figure scoring with 10.

Fr?hlich led UNLV (4-4) with 26 points and 10 rebounds for her seventh double-double in as many contests. Kinesha Davis added 25 points for the Lady Rebels, while Dayna Gambill made her per-game average in assists with five.

In the shootout's first game, No. 15 Duke defeated Cal State Sacramento, 81-45.

The Lady Rebels are now scheduled to face Cal State Sacramento in the consolation game on Tuesday, Dec. 21 at 4:00 p.m. PST.
