LAS VEGAS - Kinesha Davis led UNLV with 16 points as it defeated Cal State Fullerton 63-58 in a women's basketball game at the Thomas & Mack Center Tuesday.
Leading 60-58 with 17.3 seconds left, UNLV made three free throws in the final 10 seconds to put the game out of reach.
UNLV went on a 8-0 run over 2:02 to increase its lead to 14 points at 50-36 with 9:52 remaining before Cal State Fullerton climbed back into the game to trail by only two points with 2:33 left. The Lady Rebels never trailed in the contest.
UNLV used a 9-0 run over 4:05 in the first half to take a 16-6 lead with 11:40 left until halftime. Cal State Fullerton cut the Lady Rebels' lead to three points at 18-15 with 7:56 left, but the Titans would come no closer in the half as UNLV led 31-20 at the break.
UNLV (6-4) also received scoring from Dayna Gambill and Constance Jinks, each with 14 points. Dishawn McCracklin led the team in rebounding with nine.
Fullerton (0-8) was led by Erin Whiteside's 20 points. Nieshia Cleveland contributed 13, while Kandace Hunter added 10. CSUF was led in rebounding by Heather Hansen with nine.
UNLV's next action will be on Sunday, Jan. 2, in Stockton, Calif., against Pacific at 2:00 p.m.
