Tulsa upsets women's tennis team

LAS VEGAS - The 31st-ranked UNLV women's tennis team lost at home 5-4 for the second consecutive day, this time to 63rd-ranked Tulsa in a WAC match-up at the Fertitta Tennis Complex Saturday.

The Lady Rebels have lost four straight after a 3-0 start while the Golden Hurricane improved to 2-2.

The two teams split the six singles matches as well as the first two doubles points. The overall match was decided in the top doubles position where the Tulsa team of Anousjka Van Exel and Jennifer DeSpain overcame a 5-4 deficit to defeat Katarina Malec and Marianne Bakken 8-6.

Winning for UNLV in singles were 99th-ranked Susie Kocsis, Veronica Goude and Britta Gabl. In doubles, the lone Lady Rebel point came at the second spot where Kocsis teamed with Marcella Valkenhoff for a victory.

The Lady Rebels host 39th-ranked Fresno State Sunday beginning at 10 a.m.
