Northridge, Calif. - The UNLV women's soccer program had its three-game winning streak snapped at Cal-State Northridge 2-3. The Matador's opened the scoring with a goal by Debbie Smith at the 20:39 mark. UNLV was down 1-0 going into the break.
The Rebels opened up the second half of scoring with a breakaway goal from Janae Sims at the 66:28 mark. Cal-State Northridge responded with goals at the 75:19 and 80:28 marks to give the Rebels a 3-1 deficit. UNLV picked up a goal at the 84:50 mark when Anita Pedford scored on a free kick to put UNLV within striking distance. The Rebels were unable to break through in the closing minutes to lose their second game of the season.
The Rebels return two games at home. They take on Boise State on Friday, September 18 and Idaho State on Sunday, September 20. Starting times for both games are 7:00 p.m.
