LAS VEGAS - The 36th-ranked UNLV women's tennis team won only one set in falling to No. 1-ranked Florida during the third day of the Excalibur Challenge being held at the Fertitta Tennis Complex Thursday.
The Lady Rebels (3-6) lost in straight sets in five matches while Britta Gabl fell in three sets at No. 5.
UNLV lost a showdown at the top doubles spot where top-ranked Dawn Buth and Stephanie Nickitas of UF topped 13th-ranked Gee Gee Garvin and Susie Kocsis 8-5.
Powerhouse Florida has not lost a regular-season dual match since the 1995 season - a string of 77 matches. In addition, all six Gator players are ranked in the nation's top 100.
The Gators will close out their run with an 11 a.m. match vs. No. 8 William and Mary while UNLV takes on the Tribe Saturday at 11 a.m.
