Knight to Fly withThunderbirds

February 1, 1999

LAS VEGAS - Dwaine Knight, head coach of the 1998 NCAA Champion UNLV Rebel golf team, will fly with the U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron "Thunderbirds," Feb. 3 at 2 p.m.

Knight is required to go through three hours of training prior to his flight in the F-16 Fightin Falcon. He will be sized and fitted with all the life support equipment needed for flight. He will also be briefed on his flight profile by his pilot, Thunderbird #7 Maj. Costa Tzavaras.

The Thunderbirds have an on-going mission to show American taxpayers the capabilities of the aircraft and instilling confidence in the Air Force. One way for the Thunderbirds to get the word out to the public is through media/VIP orientation flights. Flights such as these are used as tools that give thousands of people a behind-the-scenes look at the Air Force in action.
