STOCKTON, Calif. - Chante Guggia made a layup with 35 seconds left and Selena Ho put the game away with two free throws with 3.7 remaining as Pacific defeated UNLV 69-65 in a women's basketball game at the Alex G. Spanos Center Sunday.
UNLV opened the second half with a 8-2 run to take a 39-33 lead. Pacific tied the game at 48-48 with 8:48 left and neither team led by more than two until Pacific held a four-point advantage at the end.
UNLV opened the game with A 15-5 run over the first 8:34, however Pacific cut the Lady Rebels' lead to one point at 15-14 with a 9-0 spurt. UNLV then went on a 10-0 run to take a 25-14 lead with 6:17 left in the first half. Pacific outscored UNLV 17-5 from there to head into halftime tied at 31-31.
Pacific (7-3) was led by Millie Kimpton's 20 points and 12 rebounds. Martha Yarbrough was also in double-figure scoring for the Tigers with 13 points.
UNLV (6-5) was led by Linda Fr?hlich's 20 points and 15 rebounds. It marked the ninth double-double in a row for Fr?hlich. Kinesha Davis added 19 points and Dayna Gambill had 11 points and a career-high 9 assists.
UNLV's next action will be on Tuesday, Jan. 4, against Navy at the Thomas & Mack Center at 5:00 p.m. The game will be part of a UNLV basketball doubleheader and will precede the men's basketball game with High Point.
