ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Kinesha Davis made two free throws with 1.2 seconds remaining to put the game away as UNLV upset New Mexico 55-51 in a Mountain West Conference women's basketball game Saturday at The Pit.

Trailing 53-51 with the ball and 18.5 seconds left in the game, UNM's Aiyana Nash missed an off-balance three-pointer with three seconds remaining as Davis came down with the rebound and was fouled.

UNLV never lost the lead in the second half, but battled through two tie-scores. The game was tied at 49-49 with 2:49 left and then again at 51-51 with 1:58 remaining. UNLV led by as many as nine points in the second half at 42-33 with 12:48 to play.

UNLV led 29-23 at halftime after seven lead changes and four ties. UNLV used a 12-0 run over 3:36 to take a 29-21 lead with 1:48 remaining in the first half. UNM scored the half's final basketball to snap a scoring drought that lasted 4:46.

UNLV (10-7, 2-2 MWC) won its second straight road Mountain West game, this time in front of 11,045 fans.

"This win is huge for our program," said an elated Regina Miller, UNLV's head coach, following the contest. "To be able to come in to this type of environment and win is a great feeling.

"It is the first time that this team has played in front of a crowd like this - and with our youth and inexperience - to be able to pull out a victory gives us something to look forward to in the future."

In addition to Fr?hlich's contributions, Davis also added a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Rebels.

New Mexico (11-5, 2-1 MWC) only shot 30 percent from the free throw line (3-of-10), while UNLV connected on 92 percent (11-of-12), which proved to be the difference in the game.

UNM was led by Miranda Sanchez' 14 points. Molly McKinnon added 12, while Jennifer Williams scored 10. Nikki Heckroth led the team in rebounds with eight.

UNLV's next action will be on Saturday, Jan. 29, against San Diego State in San Diego at 7:00 p.m.
