COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The UNLV women's track and field team finished in sixth place of eight teams competing at the Air Force Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
Senior Ayanna Hutchinson had a fine showing in her first performance of the indoor season, finishing third in the 60-meter dash (7.44) and fifth in the 200 meters (25.13).
Touted newcomer Chantel Yates also looked sharp, finishing third in her first collegiate pentathlon. She added a fourth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles.
The meet was the indoor track and field season opener for the Rebels and served as a springboard for many of the squad's younger athletes. Not all of the Rebels' squad members competed in the meet.
UNLV will get another chance to test its skills indoors next weekend in Reno at the Wolf Pack Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 5.
