RENO, Nev. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV track & field team collected two event wins and four top-3 finishes at the UNR Invitational this weekend at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.
Giving the Rebels a strong start on Friday, Jaci Wright earned an event victory in the 60m hurdles with a winning time of 8.49.
Leading the Rebels in the 1000m, Taryn Bailey finished second overall with a time of 2:57.05. Additionally, teammate Claire Rands claimed a seventh-place finish (3:08.70).
In the women's weight throw, the Scarlet & Gray were led by Amaya Mitchell-Howard who placed second overall with a personal-best throw of 19.04m (62' 5.75"), while Sophia Clark (14.39m - 47' 2.5") and Lauryn Williams (14.07m - 47' 2") placed 11th and 19th, respectively.
Reaching the 60m finals, Mikah Scott posted a seventh-place finish in a time of 7.62 seconds .
Closing out Friday's opening day, Gabby Goodgames leaped to a score of 5.46m to place 15th in the long jump.
Highlighting Saturday's action, Krishna Jayasankar won the shot put with a winning toss of 15.99m. Additionally, Roxene Simpson placed 10th with a score of 12.56m (52' 5.5") in the same event.
The Rebels added multiple individual sixth-place finishes on Saturday, which included Kaitlynn Webbe finishing sixth overall in the 400 dash (56.11) and Juliana Roberson placing sixth overall in the triple jump (11.96m).
In the 4x400 relay, the squad of Kaitlynn Webbe, Gabriella Caldwell, Aly Winston and Kaelin Gowdy posted a sixth-place finish (3:52.44).
