LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV track & field's Krishna Jayasankar has been named to the 2025-26 College Sports Communicators Academic All-America® Division I Track & Field Second Team, which was voted on by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) and announced on Wednesday. The Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India native posted a 4.00 GPA where she earned a Masters of Higher Education degree. Additionally, the senior is a four-time UNLV Dean's List honoree and has been named an Academic All-MW recipient and was recently named to the CSC Academic All-District team on June 23. Furthermore, Jayasankar becomes UNLV track & field's first student-athlete to be named a CSC Academic All-American.
Jayasankar became the first Indian thrower to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships, where she broke three Indian Indoor National records. She recorded the second-best shot put mark in program history with a throw of 17.09 meters at the Mountain West Indoor Track & Field Championships, earning All-Mountain West accolades with a second-place finish. Jayasankar became the first Indian woman to surpass 16 meters in the indoor shot put, earning Second Team All-American accolades at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships with a shot put mark of 16.54 meters (54' 3.25"), placing 13th overall.
She collected three first-place finishes in the indoor shot put - 15.99 meters (52' 5.5") at the UNR Invitational, 16.63 meters (54' 6.75") at the New Mexico Team Open and 16.83 meters (55' 2.75") at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational.
