Lady Rebels Begin Four-Game Homestand

LAS VEGAS - The UNLV women's basketball team will be home for its first game of a four-game homestand on Tuesday, Jan. 4. The Lady Rebels will host Navy at 5:00 p.m. at the Thomas & Mack Center and will precede the men's basketball game vs. High Point. The women's contest may be heard live on KENO 1460 AM in Las Vegas with Bob Blum delivering the play-by-play and Susan Pitz providing the color commentary. All UNLV Lady Rebel broadcasts may also be heard live on the internet by logging onto www.unlvrebels.com.

Lady Rebels On The Air
The 1999-2000 season marks UNLV's first on KENO 1460 AM. Every Lady Rebel contest including exhibitions and any postseason action may be heard on the Las Vegas sports radio station. All broadcasts may also be heard live on the internet by logging onto www.unlvrebels.com. Bob Blum, the dean of West Coast broadcasters, is in his 12th season as voice of the Lady Rebels and will deliver the play-by-play. The color commentary will be provided at home by Susan Pitz, while Lady Rebel Sports Information Director Andy Grossman will perform the duties during the away contests. UNLV Head Coach Regina Miller's Radio Show may be heard prior to the tipoff of every Lady Rebel game this season. Blum will host the five minute pregame show.

The Lady Rebels
UNLV (6-5) returns five players and two starters from last year's team, which became the most improved Division I team in the nation from 1997-98 to 1998-99...Head Coach Regina Miller is in her second season with the Lady Rebels and has a 23-16 mark...She is in her eighth year as a head coach with an overall record of 83-116...UNLV opened Y2K with a 69-65 loss at Pacific on Jan. 2. Prior to that, the Lady Rebels recorded a 63-58 home win over Cal State Fullerton and split at the Nassau Sun Splash Shootout in The Bahamas before hosting CSUF, falling to Liberty (75-71) and defeating Cal State Sacramento (78-64)... UNLV had won three of four contests before the trip out of the country...UNLV is led in scoring by 1998-99 national Freshman of the Year award winner Linda Fr?hlich...Fr?hlich is averaging 23.0 ppg and also leads the team in rebounding (11.9) and steals (3.5)...She leads the Mountain West Conference in scoring, total rebounding, steals and offensive and defensive rebounds...Kinesha Davis is second on the team in scoring and third in the conference with 18.3 ppg, while Constance Jinks is third on the team with 8.8 ppg. Davis is second on the team and seventh in the conference in rebounding with 7.0 rpg, while Carlesa Dixon is third on the team 5.4...Dayna Gambill leads the team and is second in the Mountain West with 5.09 assists per game.

The Opponent
Navy (2-7) has lost three games in a row...The Midshipmen's last win came against UMBC 50-46...The three losses are vs. American (65-54), at Marist (66-55) and vs. Appalachian State (66-55)...Head Coach Joe Sanchez is in his sixth year at Navy with a record of 99-51...He is in his 22nd year overall as a head coach with a mark of 406-225...The Midshipmen are led by Erica Hayes who is averaging 19.1 ppg and 8.3 rpg.

Priority Staffing 3-Point Tally
For every three-pointer the Lady Rebels make this season, Priority Staffing will donate 10 dollars to the Rebel Rousers. So far on the season (including exhibitions), UNLV has made 46 three-pointers which totals $460.

This marks the first-ever meeting between Navy and UNLV in women's basketball.

Fr?hlich Wins UNLV's First MWC Player of the Week Award
Linda Fr?hlich was named UNLV's first Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week winner on Dec. 23. She averaged 24.5 ppg and 14.0 rpg for the week.

This Season's UNLV Honors
UNLV's Linda Fr?hlich has received some recognition during this season. In addition to her MWC Player of the Week award, Fr?hlich was named to the Nassau Sun Splash Shootout's All-Tournament team after scoring 26 points and pulling down 10 rebounds vs. Liberty and scoring 23 points with a career-high 18 rebounds vs. Cal State Sacramento...Fr?hlich was also named to the Cox Communications/Lady Rebel Shootout All-Tournament team after scoring 24 points and pulling down 13 rebounds vs. Weber State and scoring 37 points and contributing 14 rebounds vs. Southeast Missouri State. Against SEMO, Fr?hlich was three points shy of her career-high scoring total.

For Openers...
At UCSB, UNLV lost only its fifth season opener in program history. The Lady Rebels now hold a 21-5 mark in season openers. As for home openers go, UNLV is 21-5. UNLV won its home opener this season vs. Southern Utah.

Four Players, One Coach Serving Suspensions
As a result of an institutional NCAA self-report, four UNLV women's basketball student-athletes and one assistant coach have received game suspensions from the athletics department for a secondary violation of a NCAA rule governing extra benefit legislation. Suspensions were imposed for Lady Rebels Kinesha Davis Linda Fr?hlich, Erin Johansson and Courtney Swanson and assistant coach Staci Schulz. Davis and Swanson missed the games vs. Southern Utah and Weber State. Fr?hlich and Johansson missed the game against Cal State Fullerton, and only Johansson will sit out the Jan. 4 game against Navy. Schulz missed the Southern Utah contest.

Nov. 15 - UCSB WNIT Recap
Five Gauchos scored in double figures as No. 14 UC Santa Barbara defeated the UNLV women's basketball team 77-56 in the first round of the Preseason Women's National Invitation Tournament at The Thunderdome. UCSB outscored the Lady Rebels 21-5 over 10:14 in the second half to take a commanding 23-point lead at 67-44 with 5:11 remaining and held on for the win. Leading 32-30 with just under two minutes to play in the first half, UCSB used a 9-2 run over the remainder of the half to take a 41-32 halftime lead. UCSB (1-0) was led in scoring by Kate Christensen's 15 points. Other double-figure scorers for the Gauchos were Stacy Clinesmith with 12, Kristi Rohr with 11 and Erin Buescher with 10. Christensen led the team in rebounds with 14. Kinesha Davis led all scorers with 27 points and grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds for a double-double. Linda Fr?hlich fouled out with seven points. UNLV fell to 0-1 on the season.

Nov. 23 - Southern Utah Recap
Linda Fr?hlich scored 32 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead the UNLV women's basketball team (1-1) to its first victory of the season, an 82-68 win over Southern Utah (1-1). Fr?hlich, who had 22 points at halftime, also matched a career high with three 3-point goals. The Lady Rebels, who led from start to finish in the game, held off a 10-0 run by the Thunderbirds in the second half with 18 free throws. Freshman Constance Jinks scored 12 points before fouling out in her first career start.

Nov. 27 - Weber State Recap
Crystal Howe hit a jumper with 30 seconds left and Stephanie Howard sank two free throws with 11 seconds remaining in overtime to secure a 75-72 Weber State victory over the UNLV women's basketball team in the second game of the Cox Communications/Lady Rebel Shootout at the Thomas & Mack Center. After UNLV's Erin Johnasson made two free throws with 15 seconds remaining in regulation to give the Lady Rebels a 65-62 lead, Weber State's Meghan Geddes hit a three-pointer with six seconds on the clock to send the game into overtime. Weber State led 53-47 with 7:04 left in regulation when UNLV went on a 12-3 run to tie the score at 59-59 with 3:10 to play. The Wildcats led by as many as 10 points in the first half and took a 30-21 lead into the break. Weber State (1-1) was led by Howe's game-high-tying 24 points. Shelly Olson added 17 points, while Geddes added 11. UNLV (2-1) was led by Linda Fr?hlich, who had a game-high-tying 24 points and a game-high 13 rebounds but fouled out with just under four minutes remaining in overtime. Tiana Sanders added a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Dayna Gambill dished out a game-high 7 assists for the Lady Rebels.

Nov. 28 - Southeast Missouri State Recap
Linda Fr?hlich led all players with 37 points and 14 rebounds as the UNLV women's basketball team defeated Southeast Missouri State 69-58 in the consolation game of the Cox Communications/Lady Rebel Shootout at the Thomas & Mack Center. Fr?hlich missed career highs by three points and one rebound as UNLV evened its record at 2-2. Kinesha Davis was the Lady Rebels' second-leading scorer with 16 points. SEMO (1-4) had four players score in double-figures with Paula Corder-King leading the way with 11 points. Regan Hughston had 11 rebounds with her 10 points and both Pam Iversen and Kristy Roherty added 10. With a 54-51 lead and 4:52 remaining in the game, UNLV went on a 7-0 run over 2:15 to take a 10-point lead and cruised from there for the 11-point victory. UNLV exploded out of halftime with a 13-5 run to take a four-point lead with 11:59 remaining at 44-40. SEMO led at the half 35-31.

Dec. 1 - Northern Arizona Recap
Linda Fr?hlich led all players with 27 points and 10 rebounds and UNLV had two other players in double-figure scoring as it defeated the Northern Arizona women's basketball team 71-57 at the Rolle Activity Center. Erin Johansson contributed 12 points on 4-of-8 three-point shooting and Kinesha Davis added 11 as UNLV improved its record to 3-2. Fr?hlich also had 7 steals and 4 assists. Northern Arizona (1-3) was led by Kara Kleinhenz who had 16 points. UNLV used a 15-3 run in the first half to take a 10-point lead and led 32-25 at halftime. The Lady Rebels opened the second half with an 11-1 run and led by 17 points with 15:31 left. NAU cut the Lady Rebels' lead to nine points at 46-37 with 11:42 left, however that was as close as the Lumberjacks would get as UNLV recorded the 14-point win.

Dec. 6 - Denver Recap
Both Kinesha Davis and Linda Fr?hlich recorded double-doubles for UNLV as it defeated Denver 74-65 at Magness Arena. Davis led all scorers with 26 points and added 12 rebounds for UNLV (4-2), while Fr?hlich had 16 points and 13 rebounds. Constance Jinks contributed 14 points, while Carlesa Dixon pulled down 10 rebounds. Denver (2-2) was led by Michaela Pavlickova's 21 points and 11 rebounds. UNLV led 47-35 with 11:05 left in the game when Denver made a run to cut the Lady Rebels' lead to four points at 55-51 with 4:15 remaining. Denver would get no closer as UNLV held on for the nine-point win. UNLV used a 13-2 run over 7:26 in the first half to take a 26-18 lead with 7:15 left. UNLV was then held scoreless over 6:31 and went into halftime with a 29-24 lead.

Dec. 11 - Nevada, Reno Recap
Kate Smith led all scorers with 26 points as four Wolf Pack players scored in double figures to lead the Nevada, Reno women's basketball team past UNLV 83-75 in overtime at Lawlor Events Center. Rachel Sorensen scored 17 points, and Katie Golomb and Ashley Bastian each had 13 for UNR (5-3). Smith led the team in rebounding with 12. Linda Fr?hlich led UNLV (4-3) with 18 points and 12 rebounds, but fouled out before the end of regulation. It marked her fifth double-double in as many games. Constance Jinks added a career-high 16 points and Dayna Gambill contributed 13. UNR opened up the overtime period with a 7-2 run and broke UNLV's three-game winning streak with the eight-point win. UNLV used a 15-4 run over 7:28 in the second half to take its first lead of the game at 54-52 with 7:54 remaining. The Lady Rebels then held a 65-61 lead with 1:12 left in regulation, however UNR scored the remaining four points including two free throws by Kate Smtih with 6.2 seconds remaining to send the game into overtime. UNR raced out to an 8-0 lead to start the game and held UNLV scoreless until the 16:43 mark. The Lady Rebels battled back to trail by only two points at 18-16 with 8:02 left, however they would get no closer as UNR used a 7-2 spurt to close out the first half to take a 39-29 lead into the break.

Dec. 20 - Liberty Recap
Elena Kisseleva made two free throws with 3.3 seconds left to give Liberty a 75-71 win over the UNLV women's basketball team in the second game of the Nassau Sun Splash Shootout played at Kendal G.L. Isaacs National Gymnasium. UNLV cut the Lady Flames' lead to 73-71 with a Linda Fr?hlich three-pointer with 18 seconds remaining, but could get no closer. With the game tied at 52-52 with 11:41 left, Liberty went on a 13-6 run to take control. Liberty opened up the second half with a 13-4 run over four minutes to take a five-point advantage. UNLV broke a 15-15 tie with 10:24 remaining in the first half with an 8-0 run over 1:51 - all with free throws - and led the rest of the first half to take a 35-31 halftime lead. Liberty (5-4) was led by Sharon Wilkerson's 19 points. Kisseleva added 17 points and led the team in rebounds with eight. Sarah Farley was the only other Lady Flame in double-figure scoring with 10. Fr?hlich led UNLV (4-4) with 26 points and 10 rebounds for her seventh double-double in as many contests. Kinesha Davis added 25 points for the Lady Rebels, while Dayna Gambill made her per-game average in assists with five.

Dec. 21 - Cal State Sacramento Recap
Linda Fr?hlich recorded 23 points and a career-high 18 rebounds for her eighth double-double in as many games as the UNLV women's basketball team defeated Sacramento State 78-64 in the consolation championship of the Nassau Sun Splash Shootout played at Kendal G.L. Isaacs National Gymnasium. UNLV outscored Sacramento State 16-3 over the final 5:00 to seal the victory. Trailing 42-34 with 16:18 left to play, UNLV went on a 12-0 run to take a four-point lead at 46-42 with 11:42 remaining. The Lady Rebels led 62-61 with 5:00 left in the game before running away from the Hornets. UNLV used a 9-2 run over 3:47 in the first half to take a 19-10 lead with 11:17 to play. Sacramento State battled back and took a 26-25 lead with 4:14 remaining in the half and outscored UNLV 9-2 from there to take a 35-27 halftime lead. UNLV (5-4) had four players record double figure in points. Kinesha Davis contributed 16, while Carlesa Dixon and Dayna Gambill each had 13. Dixon's 13 points marked a career-high for her. UNLV committed 14 turnovers in the first half, however only lost the ball six times in the second half. Sacramento State (2-7) was led by Sephora Scoubes' 23 points and nine rebounds.

Dec. 28 - Cal State Fullerton Recap
Kinesha Davis led UNLV with 16 points as it defeated Cal State Fullerton 63-58 in a women's basketball game at the Thomas & Mack Center. Leading 60-58 with 17.3 seconds left, UNLV made three free throws in the final 10 seconds to put the game out of reach. UNLV went on a 8-0 run over 2:02 to increase its lead to 14 points at 50-36 with 9:52 remaining before Cal State Fullerton climbed back into the game to trail by only two points with 2:33 left. The Lady Rebels never trailed in the contest. UNLV used a 9-0 run over 4:05 in the first half to take a 16-6 lead with 11:40 left until halftime. Cal State Fullerton cut the Lady Rebels' lead to three points at 18-15 with 7:56 left, but the Titans would come no closer in the half as UNLV led 31-20 at the break. UNLV (6-4) also received scoring from Dayna Gambill and Constance Jinks, each with 14 points. Dishawn McCracklin led the team in rebounding with nine. Fullerton (0-8) was led by Erin Whiteside's 20 points. Nieshia Cleveland contributed 13, while Kandace Hunter added 10. CSUF was led in rebounding by Heather Hansen with nine.

Jan. 2 - Pacific Recap
Chante Guggia made a layup with 35 seconds left and Selena Ho put the game away with two free throws with 3.7 remaining as Pacific defeated UNLV 69-65 in a women's basketball game at the Alex G. Spanos Center. UNLV opened the second half with a 8-2 run to take a 39-33 lead. Pacific tied the game at 48-48 with 8:48 left and neither team led by more than two until Pacific held a four-point advantage at the end. UNLV opened the game with A 15-5 run over the first 8:34, however Pacific cut the Lady Rebels' lead to one point at 15-14 with a 9-0 spurt. UNLV then went on a 10-0 run to take a 25-14 lead with 6:17 left in the first half. Pacific outscored UNLV 17-5 from there to head into halftime tied at 31-31. Pacific (7-3) was led by Millie Kimpton's 20 points and 12 rebounds. Martha Yarbrough was also in double-figure scoring for the Tigers with 13 points. UNLV (6-5) was led by Linda Fr?hlich's 20 points and 15 rebounds. It marked the ninth double-double in a row for Fr?hlich. Kinesha Davis added 19 points and Dayna Gambill had 11 points and a career-high 9 assists.

UNLV's Long Road Trip Over
UNLV's month long road swing that covered three states and a different country if finally over. The Lady Rebels played road games in Arizona, Colorado, Nevada and The Bahamas over a 30-day period. To begin the season, UNLV played in Calfiornia at UCSB and again in its most recent game at Pacific.

Fr?hlich Was Honored At Halftime Of Men's Game
Lady Rebel Linda Fr?hlich was honored at halftime of the UNLV men's basketball team's game vs. Georgetown on Nov. 28. Fr?hlich was presented with her award for being named the 1998-99 national Freshman of the Year.

UNLV Successful When Fr?hlich Scores 30 Or More
UNLV is 5-1 all-time when Linda Fr?hlich scores 30 or more points and is 17-8 when she scores 20 or more points.

Davis Fulfilling Expectations As Impact Player
Kinesha Davis is playing this season the way she left off after her freshman year at Western Illinois...Red Hot!...Against UCSB, Davis scored a game-high 27 points and grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds in 37 minutes...She scored 25 points vs. Liberty...So far this season, she is averaging 18.3 per game...At WIU two years ago, Davis broke the freshman scoring record for both the school and the Mid-Continent Conference averaging 19.4 ppg...She transferred to UNLV following the 1997-98 season and redshirted last year.

Scoring Starts At The Point
UNLV's leading scorers Linda Fr?hlich and Kinesha Davis should be thanking Dayna Gambill for finding them open so far this season. Gambill leads the team in assists with 56 (5.1) per game) and is second in the Mountain West Conference. She is also second in assist/turnover ratio at 1.81.

Other Contributors
UNLV is getting some contributions from some lesser known players this year making it a total team effort...Freshman Constance Jinks is third on the team in scoring with 8.8 ppg including a career-high 16 points at UNR, while freshman Carlesa Dixon is third on the team in rebounding with 5.4 rpg and scored a career-high 13 points vs. Cal State Sacramento.

UNLV's Three-Game Win Streak Snapped At UNR
UNLV was riding a three-game win streak before falling at UNR...The last time UNLV won three games in a row was during the 1998-99 season when it won four in a row three different times...UNLV has not won five in a row since the 1993-94 season.

Current UNLV men's basketball player Danny Brotherson is getting headlines for the Runnin' Rebels, however he is not the first from his family to play basketball at UNLV. His older sister, Lori played for the Lady Rebels from 1988-89.

UNLV Team Notes
At UCSB, UNLV struggled with its shooting, only connecting on 29 percent from the field, however one statistic that improved over the exhibition season was the turnovers. In the two exhibition games, UNLV averaged 25 turnovers per contest and at UCSB, the Lady Rebels committed a season-low 16...UNLV shot 53 percent as a team from the field vs. Southern Utah...The Lady Rebels had four players score in double figures vs. Southern Utah...Against SEMO, UNLV only had two players score in double figures...Fr?hlich (37) and Davis (16)...They combined for 77 percent of the team's scoring in the win...At Northern Arizona, UNLV shot 49 percent from the field and had three players score in double figures...They were Fr?hlich (27), Johansson (12) and Davis (11)...At NAU Johansson finally broke out of her three point slump...Prior to the game she had made only 6-of-27 but against NAU she hit 4-of-8...At Denver, UNLV shot a season-high 36 free throws and made a season-high 27, for a percentage of .750...UNLV had three players score in double figures at UNR (Fr?hlich 18, Jinks 16, Gambill 13)...Against Liberty, Fr?hlich (26) and Davis (25) accounted for 72 percent of UNLV's scoring...Against Sacramento State, UNLV had four players score in double figures...They were Fr?hlich(23), Davis (16), Gambill (13) and Dixon (13)...UNLV was without three starters vs. Cal State Fullerton, however still managed to win...Davis scored 16 points, while Dayna Gambill and Constance Jinks each had 14...At Pacific, UNLV had three players in double-figures in scoring (Fr?hlich 20, Davis 19 and Gambill 11)...Fr?hlich added 15 rebounds for her ninth double-double in a row.

1998-99 In Review
Regina Miller's first season as head coach of the Lady Rebels was a memorable one. Followin are some of the major team accomplishments: The team became the most improved Division I women's basketball team in the nation. In 1997-98 the Rebels went 4-23, but improved to 17-11 in 1998-99...Their 17-11 mark in 1998-99 was their best record since the 1993-94 campaign when they went 23-7...They qualified for the WAC Tournament for the first time. Under the old WAC format, only six of the eight teams in each division qualified for the tournament...Their 73-67 win over Hawai'i in the first round of the WAC Tournament was their first conference tournament game win since 1994, when they were a member of the Big West Conference...With their 17 wins in 1998-99, they more than quadrupled their win total for the year prior and exceeded their victory total of the previous three seasons combined...Freshman Linda Fr?hlich was selected as the national Freshman of the Year by the Women's Basketball Journal and the United States Basketball Writers Association after leading the WAC in scoring with 23.5 ppg in 1998-99. She also led the nation in scoring among all freshman...Fr?hlich was selected as First-Team All-WAC Mountain Division, WAC Mountain Division Freshman of the Year, to the WAC Mountain Division All-Newcomer Team, and All-WAC Tournament...Fr?hlich was selected as WAC Mountain Division Player of the Week twice...The Lady Rebels recorded a 10-3 home record, which was their best since 1993-94 when they were 15-2 at home...They won the Golden Gopher Classic, which was their first tournament title since they won the UNLV Showboat Shootout in 1993-94. That win also marked the first tournament win on the road since the Houston Lasdy Cougar Classic in 1990-91...They won their conference opener for the first time since 1993-94 and first conference opener on the road since 1992-93.

Sophomore Linda Fr?hlich has been tabbed a 1999-2000 third-team preseason All-American by the Women's Basketball News Service. Last year she was selected as the national Freshman of the Year by the Women's Basketball Journal as well as the United States Basketball Writers' Association. She was selected first team All-WAC for the Mountain Division, named Freshman of the Year for the WAC's Mountain Division, named to the WAC Mountain Division's all-newcomer team and selected as All-WAC Tournament. She was named UNLV Sportswoman of the Year, selected as WAC Mountain Division's Player of the Week twice (Nov. 30, Jan. 4), named tournament MVP at the Golden Gopher Classic in Minneapolis, Minn., and was named all-tournament at the Four Queens Shootout in Las Vegas. She also led the WAC in scoring with 23.5 ppg, was sixth in the nation in scoring and first among all freshman, led the team in rebounding with 9.2 rpg, which was second in the WAC and tied for 36th in the nation, she led the team in steals and was tied for first in the WAC and 30th in the nation with 2.9 spg and she led the team in field goal percentage at .462 and was seventh in the WAC. In addition, she was second on the team in free throw percentage with .767 and was 12th in the WAC, tied for 10th in the WAC in blocks per game with 0.9 and recorded 12 double-doubles, including one triple-double.

Fr?hlich Voted Mountain West Conference's Top Returner
Sophomore Linda Fr?hlich led the way on the Mountain West Conference's preseason all-conference team as she was voted both the coaches and media's choice as top returning player in the conference. Also named to both squads were Utah's Lori Red, Colorado State's Heather Haanen and BYU's Cady Williams. Rounding out the coaches' five-member team was New Mexico's Miranda Sanchez. The media chose BYU's Jill Adams.

Head Coach Regina Miller
Regina Miller is in her second season as head coach of the Lady Rebel basketball program. In her first season, Miller led a team that had gone 4-23 the year prior to a 17-11 mark making the squad the most improved in all of Division I women's basketball from 1997-98 to 1998-99. She also led the team to its first-ever WAC Tournament berth and the team's first conference tournament victory since 1994. Miller came to UNLV from Western Illinois where she was the head coach of the Westerwinds six seasons. While at WIU, she led the Westerwinds to the 1995 regular season and post-season conference championships, and the NCAA Tournament. She was also honored as the 1995 Illinois Basketball Coaches Association's Coach of the Year. Prior to earning the post at WIU, where she compiled a record of 60-100, Miller spent five years an assistant coach at her alma mater and national power Old Dominion from 1987-92. ODU reached the NCAA Tournament four of the five years she was there. She landed her first assistant coaching position at Arizona (1986-87) and spent two years (1985-86) as a graduate assistant at Western Kentucky as it made the Final Four both years she was there. At UNLV her record is 23-16, while her career head coaching record is 83-116.

Assistant Coaches
UNLV's assistant coaches are Kristen Cole, Brenda Pantoja and Staci Schulz, while the director of basketball operations is Ayanna Hines. Cole, who is in her first year, came to UNLV from Auburn where she served as an assistant coach since the summer of 1996. Cole graduated from Notre Dame in 1994 where she played basketball. Pantoja, who is in her first year, came to UNLV from Long Beach State where she was an assistant coach since 1997. Pantoja graduated from Arizona in 1996 where she played basketball. Staci Schulz, who is in her second year, came to UNLV from Western Illinois where she was an assistant coach for one season. Schulz was a player at Mount Marty College in Yankton, S.D., where she graduated from in 1996. Hines, who is in her frist year, came to UNLV from the WBCA where she was an events manager. Hines graduated from Howard in 1994.

Lady Rebels Will Play First Full Season In The Mack This Year
This season marks the first full season that the Lady Rebels will play at the Thomas & Mack Center. In the past, UNLV played most of its home games at Lied Gymnasium, however over the years the Lady Rebels have played in the big building. The Lady Rebels have hosted 97 regular season games at the T&M over 17 years and has a mark of 75-23 (.765) in those games.

MWC TOURNAMENT
The inaugural Mountain West Conference Basketball Championship will be held at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nev. All eight MWC institutions will compete in the single-elimination event for the first league title March 9-11. Tickets for the event are available through each school's ticket office.
