LAS VEGAS - Five players scored in double-figures for UNLV as it defeated Valparaiso 79-62 in a women's basketball game Saturday at the Thomas & Mack Center.
Constance Jinks scored a career-high 21 points and recorded a team-high five steals to pace the Lady Rebels. Linda Fr?hlich also had 21 points and added 13 rebounds to record her 11th straight double-double.
Other Rebels in double figure scoring were Erin Johansson (12), Kinesha Davis (11) and Carlesa Dixon (10). UNLV (8-5) has now won four of its last five games.
Valparaiso (8-5) was led by Jeanette Gray's 12 points and six rebounds. Shantil Robinson added 11 points for the Crusaders.
UNLV broke the game open with a 17-6 spurt in the second half to lead 54-29 with 15:13 left to play. Valparaiso cut UNLV's lead to 10 points at 56-46 with 10 minutes to play, but would come no closer.
Leading 16-14 with 9:26 left in the first half, UNLV used a 14-3 run over 5:04 to lead 30-17 and held a 39-26 lead at halftime.
UNLV will remain at home for its next two games as it opens Mountain West Conference play on Thursday, Jan. 13, and continues on Saturday, Jan. 15 at the Thomas & Mack Center. The Lady Rebels will play host to Brigham Young on Jan. 13 and Utah on Jan. 15. Both games start at 7:35 p.m.
