PULLMAN, Wash. - The UNLV women's soccer team lost a 4-0 decision on Sunday to Washington State in a cold and windy game. The Rebels (7-4) are still looking for their impressive eighth win of the season, one more than a year ago.
Washington State (8-2) scored the game winner at the 19:07 mark off a corner kick by Beth Childs. Not more two minutes later, the Cougars were on the board again. The match remained 2-0 in favor of Washington State through the rest of the first half.
The Cougars added two more goals in the second half, one at the 54:44 mark and the other at 65:44. Rebels' keeper, senior Shannon Wilson, made her return to Pullman after beginning her career at Washington State. Wilson saved nine balls for the Rebels, giving her a total of 40 saves on the year. Junior Janae Sims was shutout of this match after scoring the first hat trick in UNLV women's soccer history on Friday in a 4-2 victory at Long Beach State.
The Rebels return home to begin conference play Friday night as they host Wyoming at 6:00 p.m. On Sunday, the Rebels will be home again as they battle Air Force at 2:00.
