Women's Soccer Falls At Utah

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The UNLV women's soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision to the Utah Utes on a very cold and rainy day in Salt Lake City. The Rebels fall to 9-5 overall and 2-1 in Mountain West Conference play.

Utah went on a three-goal scoring binge in a matter of three minutes to take controll of the match. The game winner came at the 14:05 mark by sophomore Katie Tate who scored her first of her two goals in the match. The next goal came just one minute later, by freshman Amber Brower. The third goal of the half came in the 17th minute by Tate to push the lead to 3-0. The Rebels put up a good showing for the rest of the half, firing five shots on goal but were unable to cut into the deficit.

The Rebels came out of the half only down three goals and looked to get back into the match. Junior Anita Pedford fired a team-leading three shots in the match for the Rebels. Utah tallied one more at the 59:05 mark to push the lead to four goals, proving to be the difference in the match.

UNLV travels to Provo, Utah for a match with BYU on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. The Rebels will then return home to face the Lobos of New Mexico on Wednesday at 7:00 at Johann Field.
