Women's Soccer Wins Conference Opener, 1-0

LAS VEGAS -The UNLV women's soccer team defeated Wyoming on Friday night, 1-0 to improve its record to 8-4 on the season in front of a season best 950 people. With that win, the UNLV equals its career win mark (8) set in the inaugural 1998 season. Wyoming falls to 6-4-1 on the year and 0-1 in the Mountain West Conference.

UNLV and the Cowgirls played a scoreless first half with both teams playing pretty equally. The Rebels out shot Wyoming 6-4 in the opening period. Freshman keeper Heidi Hart started her fifth game for the Rebels this season and posted the Rebels' first complete game shutout of the season.

UNLV began the second half with a more intense attitude. The Rebels scored the game winner at the 66:58 mark by freshman Rachael Buscovich her first goal of the season. The assist went to sophomore Cosette Joffs for her team leading fifth dish on the year. The Rebels out shot the Cowgirls for the match 18-7 and 12-3 in the second half alone.The Rebels look for their career best ninth win on Sunday when Air Force visits. Game time is 2:00 at Johann Field.
