LAS VEGAS - Five players scored in double figures as the UNLV women's basketball team cruised to a 29-point victory over the National Women's Basketball League (NWBL) USA Elite team, 91-62, at the Thomas & Mack Center on Saturday.
The Lady Rebels were led by junior Linda Fr?hlich, who posted her second double-double of the preseason with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore Constance Jinks scored 12 and senior Tiana Sanders added 11 in relief of Fr?hlich. Kinesha Davis and Dayna Gambill had 10 points apiece.
UNLV rushed out to an early lead, opening the game with a 13-2 run. The Rebels then held the NWBL scoreless for a four-minute stretch late in the first half, opening up a 42-21 edge, and led 51-28 at the break.
The NWBL picked up the pace a bit in the second half as the two teams exchanged baskets throughout the remainder of the night. Christina Pagano paced the USA Elite squad with 26 points on 6-of-12 three-point shooting and an 8-for-10 night at the free throw line.
The game concludes the preseason for the Lady Rebels, who will begin the regular season against Texas-San Antonio on Monday, Nov. 20 at the Thomas & Mack Center.
