LAS VEGAS - UNLV backup quarterback Jason Vaughan will not play in or suit up for Thursday's Las Vegas Bowl IX because he violated a team rule, Rebel head coach John Robinson announced today.

Vaughan, a fifth-year senior from Suwanee, Georgia, played in six games this season, including two starts (vs. Wyoming and at Utah) in place of injured starter Jason Thomas.

Vaughan completed 22 of 43 pass attempts for 170 yards and one touchdown and one interception. He transferred to UNLV from Middle Georgia College in 1999 and started eight games for the Rebels last season.
