PROVO, Utah - The BYU women's basketball team used a second half run to overcome a halftime deficit and defeat UNLV, 98-81 Thursday in front of 826 fans in the Marriott Center.
The Lady Rebels (11-10, 3-5 MWC) led 44-38 at the intermission, holding the Cougars (15-7, 5-4 MWC) to just 39 percent from the field in the first half. But BYU tied the game at 50 behind a 10-2 scoring run early in the second half and never looked back.
Linda Fr?hlich led the Rebels with 31 points, including 19 in the second half. Freshman Constance Jinks chipped in with 16 and dished out six assists.
Stacy Jensen led a balanced attack by the Cougars, scoring a career high 30 while Jennifer Leitner recorded a double-double with a 19-point, 10 rebound effort.
The Lady Rebels will remain in Utah where they will face the University of Utah in the Huntsman Center on Saturday. The Utes, fresh off a victory over San Diego State, currently lead the Mountain West Conference standings with a 16-5 mark, overall and a 7-1 record in the league.
