LAS VEGAS - Linda Fr?hlich led all players with 24 points and added 13 rebounds as UNLV defeated New Mexico 65-50 in a Mountain West Conference women's basketball game Saturday at the Thomas & Mack Center.
UNLV raced out to a 19-4 lead with 9:22 remaining in the first half, which included an 11-0 run over 6:39. The Lady Rebels led 35-23 at halftime.
UNLV used a 10-4 spurt over the first 2:52 of the second half to take a commanding 18-point lead at 45-27. The Lady Rebels increased their advantage to as many as 22 points and cruised to the win.
The win marked a season sweep over the Lobos for UNLV, which won 55-51 in Albuquerque earlier this season. The game was billed as "Pack the Mack" night as 1,152 fans were in attendance. That figure is UNLV's highest home attendance since 1,500 fans witnessed UNLV vs. Connecticut during the 1997-98 season.
UNLV (13-11, 5-6 MWC) was assisted in the win by Carlesa Dixon's game-high 15 rebounds. Erin Johansson scored 12 points on 4-of-8 3-point shooting, while Kinesha Davis added 10 points.
New Mexico (16-7, 7-3 MWC) was led by Miranda Sanchez' 13 points and six rebounds.
UNLV's next action will be on Saturday, Feb. 26, as it hosts San Diego State for its final regular season home game. The game will tipoff at 5:00 p.m. at the Thomas & Mack Center and will be part of a UNLV basketball double-header. The Lady Rebels will precede the men's basketball team's contest with Air Force.
