LAS VEGAS - Linda Frohlich poured in 28 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to help the UNLV women's basketball team survive for a 69-63 win over San Diego State Saturday.
The Lady Rebels, 14-11 overall, evened their Mountain West Conference record at 6-6 with their fourth-straight home win and third consecutive overall. The Aztecs, who upset UNLV on a last-second shot last month in San Diego, fell to 8-17 and 3-9.
Led by Frolich's 19 points and 10 rebounds in the first 20 minutes alone, UNLV dominated early and led 40-29 at halftime. The Lady Rebels went up by as many as 21 on a Frolich jump shot to make it 57-36 with just over 12 minutes left in the game.
The Aztecs, who were led by Jamey Cox' 16 points, went on a 25-5 run to fight to within one point, 62-61, with one minute remaining. UNLV, however, made six free throws sandwiched around a layup to pull away for the win.
Frolich, who also had seven assists, recorded her 18th double-double of the season, while Carlesa Dixon added 12 points and nine rebounds in the final regular-season home game of the season. UNLV next travels to Colorado State on Thursday.
