LAS VEGAS: The UNLV Athletics Department has been allotted 450 tickets for Friday's first round of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament being held at the Nashville Arena in Nashville, Tenn.
UNLV will use its post-season procedural guidelines for the distribution of the allotted tickets.
The ticket breakdown is as follows:
Of the 450 NCAA allotted tickets, 189 will be used for institutional commitments that consist of coaches, players, band members, cheerleaders and the official traveling party. Of the 261 tickets that remain, 16 percent will go to the general student population (42 tickets), four percent will go to faculty/staff (10) and 80 percent will go to scholarship donors (209). UNLV's priority points system will be used for the allocation of the scholarship donor allotment.
The UNLV priority points system is used for determining ticket allocation and seat assignment for men's basketball post-season competition. The system is based on the post-season ticket policy that was researched, written and recommended by the post-season basketball ticket committee and approved by the Intercollegiate Athletic Council and the President of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas following the 1990 season.
Because the NCAA allocation was less than 500 tickets, scholarship donors are limited to purchase two tickets under the post-season procedural guidelines.
Tickets can be ordered through the UNLV Sports Marketing Department located in room 70 of the Thomas & Mack Center. The office will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, March 13, and the cutoff will be at 5 p.m. For further information call 895-UNLV and the Fax number is 895-3079.
