Runnin' Rebels Drop Friday Night Game At Colorado State

The Rams closed the game with a 16-4 run to win 70-62; Issac Williamson led UNLV in scoring with 14 points.

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's basketball team lost its second straight Mountain West road game Friday night, 70-62, at Colorado State.

The Rams (11-5, 2-3) had four players score in double figures, led by Brandon Rechsteiner's 15 points. 

Issac Williamson's 14 points led three Runnin' Rebels (7-8, 2-2) in double digits.

DOWN THE STRETCH: In a game that featured six lead changes and nine ties, UNLV led 56-51 with just under seven minutes remaining. However, the Runnin' Rebels made just one field goal over the game's final nine minutes, and Colorado State closed the game on a 16-4 run, during which UNLV went scoreless for almost four minutes.

STAT OF THE GAME: Colorado State shot 52.2% from the field in the second half (12 of 23).

QUOTABLE: "I'm proud of our young men for the way they bounced back from Tuesday's game (98-66 loss at Wyoming), because our whole message over the last three days was how you are going to respond is going to show your character. I thought we responded the right way. We had great fight and we had a chance to win the game. It's a fine line sometimes between winning and losing, and we fell a little short. OTHER NOTES: 
- Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn scored 13 points on 4 of 9 from the field, including two 3-pointers, and Al Green scored 12 points on 5 of 8 shooting, also with two 3-pointers. Green had no turnovers in 23 minutes of action. Williamson was 4 of 6 from the field, also with two 3-pointers.
- Jacob Bannarbie had a game-high nine rebounds.
- CSU's Carey Booth scored 13 points on 4 of 5 shooting, including 3 of 3 on 3-pointers with a team-high-tying six rebounds. Rashaan Mbemba scored 11 points with six rebounds, and Josh Pascarelli added 10 points.
- CSU outrebounded UNLV 34-29. Both teams had 12 offensive rebounds each, but CSU led in second-chance points 16-11.
- CSU led 32-29 at the half.
- CSU shot 43.5% for the game from the field (20 of 46) and 42.9% (9 of 21) on 3-pointers, while UNLV shot 40.8% from the field (20 of 49), and 35.0% on 3-pointers (7 of 20).
- UNLV was 15 of 25 from the free-throw line (60%), while CSU made 70% (21 of 30).
- UNLV has made at least one 3-pointer in a NCAA-record 1,275 straight games.
