Runnin' Rebels Win Fifth Straight Home Game With OT Victory Over Boise State

Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn scored a career-high 33 points with a career-high-tying six assists in an 89-85 win Tuesday night at the Thomas & Mack Center.

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's basketball team won its fifth straight home game Tuesday night with an 89-85 overtime victory against Boise State at the Thomas & Mack Center.

The win also snapped a two-game losing streak for the Runnin' Rebels (8-8, 3-2), giving them a fourth win in their last six games.

Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn scored a career-high 33 points for UNLV, adding a career-high-tying six assists. The 33 points marked the highest individual scoring total in a game by a UNLV player since EJ Harkless had 35 points in the 2023 Mountain West Tournament.

The Broncos (9-8, 1-5) were led by Drew Fielder's 23 points, with Andrew Meadow adding 21.

BACK-AND-FORTH: The game featured an incredible 18 lead changes and 19 ties. Boise State's biggest lead was seven points late in the first half, while UNLV's largest margin was five early in the second half.

STAT OF THE GAME: Although the turnovers were fairly even, with Boise State committing 15 and UNLV 13, the Runnin' Rebels scored 29 points off turnovers, while Boise State managed just 12.

OTHER NOTES: 
- Fielder made a 3-pointer with 0.2 seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime at 76-76.
- Howie Fleming Jr. added 17 points, while Kimani Hamilton scored 16.
- Gibbs-Lawhorn was 11 of 23 from the field and was 9 of 12 on free throws. He also had five rebounds and a steal.
- Fleming Jr. was 6 of 13 from the field, including 3 of 6 on 3-pointers, while Hamilton was 5 of 9 shooting.
- Tyrin Jones scored six points with four rebounds and a career-high four steals, but his defense was the game-changer with three blocked shots late in overtime. 
- Jacob Bannarbie had a game-high eight rebounds.
- UNLV led in rebounding, 40-33. The Runnin' Rebels had 14 offensive boards and 11 second-chance points, compared to eight and four for Boise State, respectively.
- Boise State shot 59.1% from the field in the second half (13 of 22), finishing the game at 49.2%. UNLV shot 47.0% for the game.
- UNLV held a 40-39 halftime lead.
- UNLV has made at least one 3-pointer in a NCAA-record 1,276 straight games.
