AUSTIN, Texas - The 10th-ranked UNLV men's golf team shot 23-over-par in two rounds played Monday and is in sixth place at the Cleveland Golf/Morris Williams Intercollegiate being staged at the par-72, 6,906-yard Austin Country Club.
The Rebels shot an 11-over 299 in the morning round and a 12-over 300 in the afternoon to fall 13 shots behind leader BYU (304-282-586). Oklahoma State (290-304-594) is in second place and Fresno State (294-302-596) and New Mexico are tied for third (298-298-596).
Individually, the Rebels were led by Michael Kirk (73-76-149) and Tyler Mays (75-74-149) who are both tied for 13th place. The pair is eight shots behind leader Joel Hendry of New Mexico (69-72-141).
Also competing for UNLV were Jeremy Anderson (76-76-152) and Scott Lander (75-77-152), who are both tied for 30th, and Calvin Kupeyan (80-74-154), who is tied for 47th.
The tournament wraps up with 18 holes on Tuesday.
