Golf Holds On To Finish Ninth At ASU

TEMPE, Ariz. - The UNLV golf team shot seven-under par in the final round of the ASU Thunderbird/Savane Invitational Sunday to finish in ninth place (288-297-281--866).

Individually, the Rebels were led by Jeremy Anderson and Michael Kirk, who both finished in fourth place at five-under par. Anderson (73-70-68--211) shot a final-round 68, marking his 16th sub-par round of the year while Kirk (69-75-67--211) posted his 10th round under par.

Arizona State's Paul Casey claimed the individual medalist honors, leading the Sun Devils to a two-stroke victory over Arizona.

Rounding out UNLV's lineup were Calvin Kupeyan ( 69-78-71--218), who finished tied for 28th, Scott Lander (78-75-75--228), tied for 77th overall, and Tyler Mays (77-77-76--230), who claimed 81st place.

UNLV will use the next two weeks to prepare for the Mountain West Conference Championships in Palm Desert, Calif., on May 1-3.
