LAS VEGAS - UNLV punter Ray Cheetany has been named a 2000 preseason second team All-American by Collegefootballnews.com, the website announced.
The senior from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, finished fourth in the nation in punting last season with 45.4 yards per kick on 65 attempts. Nick Harris of California was named the first-team punter.
Cheetany, who booted 39 percent of his kicks 50 yards or longer last fall, including a season-long 67-yarder, also kicked off for the Rebels. He is expected to take over the team's place-kicking duties this season as well.
