LAS VEGAS - Cornerback Kevin Thomas has been named 2000 preseason Second Team All-America by Athlon's magazine.

Thomas, a junior from Sacramento, led the Mountain West Conference in pass breakups a year ago with a school-record 24. He also paced the Rebels with five interceptions and scored two touchdowns on defense. He gained national attention last fall when he returned a fumble 100 yards as time expired to give UNLV a 27-24 victory at Baylor.

Thomas is one of only two MWC players to appear among Athlon's selections, with Utah's Andre Dyson tabbed for the third team as a defensive back.
