LAS VEGAS - UNLV punter Ray Cheetany has been named second team 2000 Preseason All-American by Preview Sports, a magazine that hit newsstands this week.
The senior from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, finished fourth in the nation in punting last season with an average of 45.4 yards per kick on 65 attempts. Dan Hadenfeldt of Nebraska was named the first team punter.
Cheetany had already been named a first team All-American by Street & Smith's and second team by collegefootballnews.com.
Cheetany, who booted 39 percent of his kicks 50 yards or longer last fall, including a season-long 67-yarder, also kicked off for the Rebels. He is expected to take over the team's place-kicking duties this season as well.
