2000-01 UNLV Women's Basketball Schedule
Aug. 15, 2000
LAS VEGAS - A total of 27 games including two in-season tournaments and a mid-season matchup with nationally ranked Arizona highlight the 2000-01 UNLV women's basketball schedule, announced by the school's athletics department on Monday.
The Lady Rebels will tip off the season on Nov. 20 when they host Texas-San Antonio in the Thomas & Mack Center. Following the season opener, UNLV will again play host to the Cox Communications Lady Rebel Shootout, featuring Charlotte, St. John's and Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
The most notable games on the schedule are a Dec. 6 matchup at Arizona, which finished the season ranked 20th, and a return trip to No. 21 UC Santa Barbara.
Rounding out UNLV's non-conference opponents are Eastern Washington, Cal State Northridge, Pacific and the Battle for Nevada against upstate rival Nevada, Reno.
The Rebels will also face a challenging Mountain West Conference slate with a total of eight games against schools that played in the postseason last year. Both Utah and BYU participated in the NCAA Tournament a year ago while Colorado State and New Mexico played in the WNIT.
