LAS VEGAS - The UNLV women's basketball team will be one of numerous area organizations and volunteer groups participating in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk to be held at Paseo Verde Park on Saturday, Oct. 6 in Henderson.
Since 1993, Making Strides has been the American Cancer Society's rallying cry to raise awareness and dollars to fight breast cancer. Last year, 325,000 walkers across the country collected more than $26 million.
Money raised through Making Strides is dedicated to life-saving American Cancer Society research, education, patient support and advocacy programs to defeat this disease. This year alone, the disease will strike nearly 200,000 times and claim more than 40,000 lives.
Registration will be taken between 7-8 a.m., while the walk begins at 8 a.m. Paseo Verde Park is located on Paseo Verde Parkway, between Valle Verde Drive and Green Valley Parkway.
