LAS VEGAS - When the PGA Tour's Invensys Classic tees off Wednesday at the TPC at Summerlin, the TPC at the Conyons and Southern Highlands Golf Club, included in its prestigious field will be five golfers who developed their game in Las Vegas.
Former UNLV stars Jeremy Anderson, Edward Fryatt, Skip Kendall, Scott Lander and Chris Riley are among the 144 professionals and amateurs slated to play in the 90-hole event.
Kendall claimed the best finish of the bunch at last year's competition, tying for 27th overall. Fryatt tied for 56th, and both Riley and Anderson tied for 99th.
Anderson, Kendall and Riley all come off impressive performances at last week's Michelob Championship at Kingsmill where all three finished among the top 25. Riley, who was tied for the lead after two rounds, tied for 12th and netted $73,500. Kendall tied for 19th and Anderson tied for 23rd.
The Invensys Classic will be the first PGA Tour event for Lander, who just concluded his career at UNLV last May. The Kingman, Ariz., native made his professional debut at the Oklahoma Ford Open Championship on Sept. 21, where he finished tied for 60th.
