Jinks Named MWC Women's Basketball Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - UNLV junior women's basketball guard Constance Jinks was named Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week by the league office Tuesday.

Jinks, a native of Chicago, Ill., helped the Lady Rebels to a 3-0 record last week averaging 23.3 points, six rebounds and seven assists per game. In a 71-52 win over UC Irvine, Jinks hit 9-of-19 field goals for 20 points along with seven rebounds and seven assists. She scored a MWC and team season-high 29 points on 12-of-20 shooting in a 92-34 victory over Sacramento State. Jinks was one assist shy of her first career double-double with 21 points and a career-high nine assists in an 88-67 win over Tennessee Tech.

Named Co-MVP of the Cox Communications / Lady Rebel Shootout held on Nov. 24-25 in Las Vegas, Jinks currently ranks second in MWC scoring with 20.8 points per game and is tied for first in assists at 6.75 per game. She is the team's current leading scorer and assists playmaker. The weekly conference honor marks her third overall of her career.

With a 4-0 undefeated record, the Lady Rebels are off to their second season best start under UNLV coach Regina Miller. UNLV continues to receive votes in the national polls with 11 votes in the USA TODAY/ESPN Top 25 Coaches Poll and 14 points in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll.

The Lady Rebels currently lead the Mountain West Conference in numerous statistical categories: scoring offense (86.0 ppg), scoring margin (+34.0), rebounding offense (44.8 rpg), rebounding margin (+14.2) and assists (23.25 apg).
