LAS VEGAS - Six UNLV players will compete this weekend at the 2001 Arizona State Thunderbirds Invitational at the Whiteman Tennis Center in Tempe.
The 32-player singles draw and 16-team doubles draw is made up of players from UNLV, ASU, California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, San Diego and Texas Tech. There will be two rounds of singles on Friday, two rounds on Saturday with the final on Sunday.
Lady Rebel Paulina Janus earned the second seed and will enjoy a first-round bye Friday. Agnieszka Abram, seeded sixth, will face Nicole Havlicek of California. Marianne Bakken will take on Cindy Sureephong of the host Sun Devils while freshman Tracie Chong drew Jean Jacobs of Cal and Gyorgui Zsiros will face Carla Arguelles, also of Cal.
Three Lady Rebels' doubles teams also will compete in first-round matches, including Chong teaming with Amy Hadziosmanovic.
