Three Top Recruits Sign With Lady Rebels

LAS VEGAS - Two top Michigan preps and one international recruit have signed their National Letter of Intent to join the UNLV women's basketball team for the 2002-03 season as announced by UNLV coach Regina Miller.

Sheena Moore, a 5-foot-7 Street & Smith's and Nike High School All-American from Lansing, Mich., attends Lansing Everett High School, the alma mater of NBA legend Earvin "Magic" Johnson. Moore averaged a team-high 16.4 points this season leading the Lady Vikings to their second straight MHSAA Class A championship title and fourth consecutive CAC league title. She scored a game-high 20 points in the finals and a game-high 29 points in the semifinals of the state tournament. Moore is a member of the National Honor Society holding a 3.1 grade-point average and looks to major in business management at UNLV. Moore was rated No. 18 in the 2001-02 Blue Star Basketball Top 100 high school seniors index. Chose UNLV over Michigan State.

Evelien Callens, a 6-foot-2 forward from Mariakerke, Belgium, is a member of the Belgium National Team. She plays club basketball for Euronyl Waregem and is averaging 16 points, 11 rebounds and four assists per game. While playing against the Portugal National team during training camp for the national team, Callens was named tournament MVP. She currently attends Royal Atheneum Voskenslaan in Belgium. Chose UNLV over George Washington.

Nejlah Clark, a 5-foot-11 guard from Detroit, Mich., is a Nike High School All-American out of Detroit's Martin Luther King High School. Clark has been a member of two state runner-up and four PSL conference championship teams. This season, she helped her team reach the semifinals of the MHSAA Class A Championships as the Crusaders finished the year with a 22-1 overall record. Her father, David, played one-year of college basketball at Wyoming. Clark is looking to major in pre-medicine at UNLV and was named to the All-City Honor Roll and All-City Tournament Team as a junior. Chose UNLV over Seton Hall and Howard University.
