SALT LAKE CITY - The UNLV women's basketball team was held to just 16 points in the first half and unable to recover as it fell to No. 17 Utah, 74-43, at the Huntsman Center on Saturday.
The Rebels (14-7, 4-5) were held to just 28 percent shooting for the game and only 21 percent in the first half. Utah (20-2, 9-0), which remained perfect in Mountain West Conference play, soared to a 39-16 halftime advantage.
UNLV was led on the afternoon by Linda Fr?hlich, who grabbed 14 rebounds and scored more than half of the Rebels' total with 23 points. No other Rebels reached double figures. The Utes' Lauren Beckman also posted a double-double with 19 points and 16 boards.
The loss marked the first time this season that UNLV has lost back-to-back games, and the first time the team has lost on a Saturday in 11 tries.
The Rebels look to rebound in the league standings with three straight home games. They host Air Force on Thursday, Feb. 15, and New Mexico on Saturday, Feb. 17 before closing out the home schedule against San Diego State on Saturday, Feb. 24.
