Box Score

LAS VEGAS - Arizona State's Jeff Quinney leads the field after a first-round 69 and Georgia Tech has a one-stroke lead in the team standings at the Callaway Golf Las Vegas Intercollegiate at Rio Secco Golf Course on Friday.

Rain and lightning suspended first-round play for a little more than two hours in the afternoon. However, play resumed after the short delay, and once Quinney led the last group in, he found himself with a one-stroke lead.

Quinney was the only one getting things done for the Sun Devils, however, as they finished the round in ninth place, 19 over par. Tech's four-over 292 was the best any team could muster in the rainy conditions, although Clemson and TCU hang close behind at five- and six-over par, respectively.

Scott Lander finished the day at a respectable three-over par and sits tied for 19th to lead UNLV. The Rebels ended the round in 14th place after a dismal 28-over par round.

Brett Foulds was the only other UNLV player to score in the 70s, carding a six-over par 78. Travis Whisman fired an 81, Calvin Kupeyan an 82 and James Oh an 84, the first round over 80 for all three Rebels.

Second-round play will begin at 7:30 a.m. PT on Saturday.
