FRANKLIN, Tenn. - The UNLV women's golf team completed play at the Mason Rudolph Championship on Tuesday, shooting a final-round 327 on the Ironhorse Course at the Legends Golf Club to finish in 14th place at 100-over par.
With the Rebels' (327-310-327--964) in their first year, the tournament goes down as the first in school history.
"After this week, we're looking forward to working on some of our weaknesses so that we can prepare for our next tournament," UNLV head coach Kelley Hester said. "I feel certain that UNLV women's golf will have brighter days."
Freshman Hwanhee Lee (77-76-81--234) was the brightest spot in the Rebels' first-ever competition, carding a final-round 81 to finish tied for 42nd at 18-over par.
Las Vegan Erin Borcherts (85-77-79--241) turned in the team's best round on Tuesday, firing a 79 to finish 64th at 25-over par.
Tina Mabanta's (81-75-82--238) 75 in the second round now stands as a school record and launched her to a tie for 57th at 22-over par.
Angela Olivarri (84-83-85--252) and Ayeesha Kosugi (86-82-89--257) rounded out the Rebels' lineup.
Ohio State (291-292-278--861) blistered the course on the final day, scoring a tournament-record 278 to leap over host Vanderbilt (295-284-298--877) for the event's crown. Furman's Jennifer Perri (71-69-70--210) held on for medalist honors.
With its first tournament under its belt, UNLV gears up for its next competition, the Oregon State Shanico Invitational, in Corvallis, Ore., Oct. 8-10.
