TUNING UP
The UNLV women's basketball team tunes up for their Mountain West Conference opener versus New Mexico ahead on Sunday, Jan. 6 at noon (PST). The Lady Rebels will be back in the national spotlight courtesy of ESPN2, with their first nationally-televised appearance in nine years. Before traveling to Albuquerque for the big game, UNLV contends with Northern Arizona on Jan. 4 at 5 p.m. in the Cox Pavilion. Both games will be broadcast live in Las Vegas on KENO 1460 AM radio and via an Internet link on unlvrebels.com.

SCOUTING REPORT
Northern Arizona (7-5):
The Lumberjacks are currently 7-5 overall, after dropping to Mountain West Conference foe Wyoming, 61-59, on Dec. 29. NAU has already knocked off Loyola Marymount (78-63) and Wichita State (83-63) enroute to their current 7-4 mark. Junior Jen Snitker leads NAU in scoring with 10.1 points per game. The Lumberjacks are looking to rebound from a 13-17 record from last season, under the guidance of sixth-year head coach Meg Sanders.

New Mexico (11-3): The Lobos are on a six-game winning streak and are second in the current Mountain West Conference standings with an 11-3 overall record, right behind UNLV (12-1). Last year, both UNM and UNLV split the regular season series, each taking victories at home. Both teams advanced to the postseason WNIT, with the Lobos reaching the championship final with a 4-1 record in postseason play. UNM coach Don Flanagan, in his seventh season, returns three starters and six letterwinners. Junior Jordan Adams currently leads the team averaging 17.2 ppg and 6.4 rpg.

SERIES HISTORY
The Lady Rebels dominate the all-time series against Northern Arizona, 10-1. In the last meeting versus the Lumberjacks, UNLV rolled to a 71-57 victory in Flagstaff, Ariz. Against MWC rival New Mexico, the Lady Rebels lead the series 14-5.

UNLV COACH REGINA MILLER
Regina Miller enters her fourth season as head coach. In the Miller Era, the Lady Rebels have posted three consecutive winning seasons, with last year's team making their first postseason tournament appearance since 1994. Miller has compiled a current 65-34 (.657) career winning record at UNLV, the best coaching record in the last decade of the program. With the success she has established in a short period of time in Las Vegas, Miller is looking to keep the program heading in an upward direction in 2001/02.

BACK IN THE SPOTLIGHT
It only seems appropriate with an All-American candidate and current 10-1 record that the Lady Rebels would return to the national spotlight. Receiving votes throughout the year in both the USA TODAY/ESPN Coaches Top 25 and Associate Press Top 25 polls, the UNLV women's basketball team and leading scorer Linda Fr?hlich will make their national debut on ESPN2 against New Mexico at the Pit in Albuquerque on Jan. 6, 2002. The Lady Rebels' last appearance on national television dates back to a Jan. 27, 1993 home game featured on ESPN versus Big West Conference rival Long Beach State at the South Gym on campus.
