SAN DIEGO - UNLV senior Paulina Janus dropped a tough three-set match in the third round and was ousted from the 2002 Omni Hotels West Region Women's Tennis Championships Saturday.

Janus fell to Tiffany Brymer of USC 7-5, 6-4, 7-5. In the main draw of doubles, Gyorgyi Zsiros and Leentjie Oosthuizen lost 8-5 to Caitlin Blashaw and Michelle Beyronneau of UC Riverside in a match that began Friday but was completed Saturday because of rain.

However, two Lady Rebels survived two rounds in the consolation singles bracket. Oosthuizen swept Kristi Randono of Arizona, 7-5, 6-3, and then downed Beyronneau 8-3 using pro-set scoring. Tracie Chong got by Christie Posner of UC Irvine 6-4, 6-4, and then advanced by default over UCLA's Marika Fritz-Krockow. The tournament runs through Monday.
