LAS VEGAS - Dalron Johnson led all players with 34 points and 13 rebounds as the UNLV men's basketball team defeated the EA Sports West All-Stars 87-67 in an exhibition game Tuesday at the Thomas & Mack Center.
Johnson was 16-of-19 from the field and 10 of his 13 rebounds came on the offensive end. Senior guard Marcus Banks and junior guard Demetrius Hunter both scored in double figures for the Runnin' Rebels with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
EA Sports had three players score in double figures and were led by Jack Hartman with 16.
UNLV out-rebounded EA Sports 57-20 for the game and shot 50 percent from the field, while the All-Stars shot 42 percent.
After the score was tied 36-36 at halftime, UNLV took control with a 17-6 run to open the second half to take a 53-42 lead with 15:07 left. EA Sports cut the deficit to six points with 14:32 left, but the Runnin' Rebels broke it open and led by 22 with under a minute to play.
With the win, UNLV concludes the exhibition season with a 2-0 mark and opens the regular season on Sunday, Nov. 24, at home against Portland State at 7:30 p.m. at the Thomas & Mack Center.
