McCracklin Collects First Career Double-Double

LAS VEGAS - Senior Dishawn McCracklin (Hazel Crest, Ill.) collected her first career double-double as the UNLV women's basketball team defeated Saint Mary's, 68-56, in both team's regular season opener Saturday night at the Cox Pavilion.

It was all McCracklin early on, as Dishawn and younger sister Sherry McCracklin went on an 8-4 scoring run in the first three and half minutes of play. Sherry, a sophomore, ended the night with eight points and four rebounds.

Three Lady Rebels also registered double figures. Freshman Sheena Moore (Lansing, Mich.) scored 10 points and brought down six rebounds in her first collegiate game, after replacing senior All-America candidate Constance Jinks (Chicago, Ill.) who got into foul trouble early and had 12 points. Senior Talisha Mitchell (Stockton, Calif.) added 10 points and a career-high three steals to the winning cause.

Saint Mary's (0-1) led only once the entire game with a two-point lead in the first half at 13:46 and committed 20 turnovers. Sophomore Triola Jackson led the Gaels with 14 points and 14 rebounds, her first career double-double. This was a first time meeting between both schools.

Up next, UNLV (1-0) will travel to Cal Poly (1-0) for a Wednesday, Nov. 27 non-conference matchup at 4 p.m. in San Luis Obispo, Calif.
