Lady Rebels Show Up West Coast All-Stars

LAS VEGAS - Senior All-America candidate Constance Jinks (Chicago, Ill.) scored a game-high 34 points to lead the UNLV women's basketball team past the West Coast All-Stars, 80-71, in exhibition play Friday night at the Cox Pavilion.

The Lady Rebels led the entire game until former USC standout and current WNBA player Nicky McCrimmon (Los Angeles Sparks) sank two free throws at 10:46 for the 54-54 tie. McCrimmon later fouled out of the contest with 26 points.

With 4:33 remaining in the second half, UNLV made a comeback on two key free throws made by Jinks to put the Lady Rebels within one-point, 67-66. Following the in-bound pass, Jinks stole the ball and pulled up for the easy layup to give UNLV the lead for good.

Sisters Dishawn and Sherry McCracklin (Hazel Crest, Ill.) dominated under the basket racking up a pair of double-doubles. Dishawn, the elder of the two siblings, scored 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Sherry notched 13 points and 10 rebounds. Junior InFini Robinson (Detroit, Mich.), a transfer from the University of Michigan, added eight points.

UNLV hosts its next preseason exhibition game on Saturday, Nov. 16 versus Strakonice Czech Republic at 7:35 p.m. in the Cox Pavilion, prior to opening the regular season against Saint Mary's College on Nov. 23.

LADY REBELS RECEIVE VOTES...In the preseason USA TODAY / ESPN / WBCA Top 25 Coaches' Poll released Friday, UNLV was one-of-three Mountain West Conference schools to receive votes (6). In 2001-02, the Lady Rebels finished 23-8 and made their eighth all-time NCAA Tournament appearance.
