Lady Rebels Hand Air Force 33-Point Loss

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Claiming its 21st victory of the season, the UNLV women's basketball team handed Air Force a 33-point loss, 86-53, Saturday night in Mountain West Conference action at Clune Arena.

Senior All-America candidate Linda Fr?hlich (Oldendorf, Germany) scored a game-high 22 points and eight rebounds in just 26 minutes of play as both teams cleared the bench. Fr?hlich registered 15 points in the first half and pushed UNLV out to a 7-0 run in the opening minutes. For the night, she went 5-of-9 from the field, 2-of-3 from 3-point range and 10-of-11 from the free throw line.

Junior Constance Jinks (Chicago, Ill.) turned in double-digits with 12 points, while freshman Sherry McCracklin (Hazel Crest, Ill.) had a near double-double with nine points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Everyone received minutes in the game with 11-of-12 Lady Rebels racking up points in the scoring column.

UNLV would dominate the whole way through. At halftime, the Lady Rebels went into the lockerroom with a 43-19 lead, after McCracklin stole the ball from Air Force's Samantha Clifton and hit an off-balance jumper at the buzzer. McCracklin made her fourth career start.

The Falcons have suffered 12-straight losses and drop to 4-21 overall, 0-12 MWC. Alison Tomlinson led the Cadets with a team-high 17 points. UNLV improves to 21-4 overall, 9-3 MWC, which ties New Mexico for second-place in the current league standings. No. 16 Colorado State still leads the conference with a 10-2 record, coming away with a 64-62 overtime victory at Wyoming.

The Lady Rebels will finish out the regular season this week hosting a two-game homestand with BYU on Thursday, Feb. 28 at 5 p.m. and Utah on Saturday, March 2 at 3:30 p.m. in the Thomas & Mack Center. Both games will be part of doubleheaders with the UNLV men's basketball team and will be broadcast locally on KENO 1460 AM radio and via an Internet broadcast link will on unlvrebels.com.
