Fr?hlich Among WBCA / Kodak All-America Finalists

March 11, 2002

ATLANTA - The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced the finalists for the 2002 Division I Kodak All-America Basketball Team Monday and UNLV senior forward Linda Fr?hlich was named a WBCA/Kodak All-America Honorable Mention for the third-time of her stellar career.

UNLV's all-time leading scorer (2,346 career points to-date) and women's all-time leading rebounder (1,117 career rebounds to-date), Fr?hlich is currently averaging a double-double with 20.9 points per game and 10.5 rebounds per game. The Oldendorf, Germany native recently led the Lady Rebels (23-7) to their first NCAA Tournament berth since the 1994 season.

She now joins former Lady Rebel standout Misty Thomas (1982-86) as the only two women's basketball players in school history to be named an All-American, Conference Player of the Year and First Team Academic All-America selection. Before Fr?hlich became the women's all-time leading scorer on Dec. 9, 2001, Thomas held the record for 15 years and led her team to three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.

The Kodak All-America Team will be announced at the 2002 NCAA Division I Women's Final Four on March 28 in San Antonio, Texas. Fr?hlich was a District 7 finalist along with New Mexico's Jordan Adams, Colorado State's Angie Gorton, and Louisiana Tech's Amber Obaze and Ayana Walker.

The Eastman Kodak Company has sponsored the Kodak Women's All-America Basketball Team for the last 29 years. WBCA member coaches in each of the eight WBCA geographical districts vote on the team and player of the year honors. All nominees are given All-America Honorable Mention honors, even if they are not chosen for the final team made up of what the voters deem as 10 of the top women's college basketball players in the nation.
