LAS VEGAS - She continues to do it again and again. UNLV senior forward Linda Fr?hlich (Oldendorf, Germany) was named to The Associated Press Women's Basketball All-America team as a third team selection Tuesday by the nation's largest media organization.
Fr?hlich, who also received WBCA/Kodak All-America Honorable Mention honors on March 11 for the third time in her career, becomes the Lady Rebels' first third-team selection in school history. The milestone is even more significant, after making the AP's honorable mention list the last two years.
Her outstanding college career has produced these credentials: National Freshman of the Year (1999), three-time Mountain West Conference Player of the Year (2000, 2001 and 2002), two-time AP All-America honorable mention (2000 and 2001), three-time Kodak All-America honorable mention (2000, 2001 and 2002) and Verizon / CoSIDA First Team Academic All-America (2002).
One of the greatest student-athletes to ever play for UNLV, Fr?hlich is the school's all-time leading scorer (2,346 career points to date) and the women's all-time leading rebounder (1,117 rebounds to date). She is only the fifth women's basketball player in the program's 28-year history to be named a first, second or third team All-America honoree. Fr?hlich joins former Lady Rebel greats Belinda Candler (1978), Teresa Willis (1979), Pauline Jordan (1989, 1990) and Misty Thomas (1985) on the elite list.
The All-America team is voted annually by a nationwide panel made up of media representatives who vote in the AP poll with 44 ballots cast in all.
