MENIFEE, Calif. - The UNLV women's golf team shot a final-round 313 on Tuesday to finish in ninth place at the Pioneer Electronics Bruin Classic at Menifee Lakes Country Club.
UNLV (312-305-313--930) slipped one spot behind Oregon (307-310-308--925) after sitting even with the Ducks after two rounds of play on Monday.
Pepperdine, on the other hand, cruised to an easy 25-stroke win. The Waves' Katherine Hull (74-69-64--207) carded a final-round 64 for a seven-stroke victory over teammate Lindsey Wright (71-72-71--214).
Some 22 strokes behind Hull were UNLV freshman Hwanhee Lee (79-74-76--229) and junior Erin Borcherts (76-77-76--229), who tied for 30th place.
Tina Mabanta's (78-76-77--231) consistent play landed her a tie for 36th place overall.
The Rebels' final round was hampered by the end of the lineup. Autumn Monteiro (84-81-84--249) finished tied for 77th and counted an 84 toward the Rebels' score after Christine Hentzner (79-78-91--248) turned in a 19-over 91 to slip to 75th.
"We have some time to regroup," head coach Kelley Hester said. "We certainly will work on our short game. We blew a few around the greens this week. But we'll be ready to tee it up in Texas in a couple of weeks."
The Rebels head to Austin, Texas, to compete in the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Classic at the Barton Creek Resort's Palmer Lakeside Course on March 25-26.
