Foong Tied Atop Leaderboard After Opening Day In New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (UNLVRebels.com) – Junior Zi Yu Foong leads the UNLV women's golf team in a tie atop the individual leaderboard after Monday's opening rounds of New Mexico's Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational at UNM Championship Course (Par 72, 6,354 yards).

REBEL ROUNDUP: The junior shot a 5-under 139 through 36 holes, including a first-round 3-under 69 and a second-round 2-under 70. Also in the top 20 for the Scarlet & Gray, sophomore Amber Chen sits in a tie for 19th at 3-over. Following them in the lineup are freshman Demi Du (+12) tied for 68th in her collegiate debut along with sophomores Leonie Krausse (+16) and Caitlin Shippam in a tie for 78th (+16). Junior Jane Huang is tied for 84th (+19) competing as an individual.

LEADERBOARD: Atop the team standings, Sacramento State tallied the only scorecard under par through two rounds at 1-under. UNLV takes the eighth-place spot into the final round.

UP NEXT: The tournament concludes with Tuesday's final round.
