Rebel Tennis Blows By Southern Miss

LAS VEGAS - The 75th-ranked UNLV men's tennis team broke a three-match losing streak with a 6-1 win over Southern Mississippi at the Fertitta Tennis Complex Thursday.

The Rebels evened their record at 5-5 overall and 4-0 at home this spring. The Golden Eagles fell to 3-5.

UNLV began the day by taking both completed doubles matches.

In singles play, 62nd-ranked Thomas Schneiter downed Miikka Kangas at the top spot 6-4, 6-0. Also winning for the Rebels were Romain Tug at No. 2, Aviram Salomon at No. 3, Thomas Michaud at No. 4 and Andreas Maurer at No. 6.

The Rebels will host North Carolina State Friday.
